Why Were There Hundreds Of Geese On The Wallkill River?
On Wednesday, January 2, 2018, I saw something like I have never seen before: hundreds of geese on the Wallkill River.
I'm still kicking myself for not getting a video or picture of this phenomenon (that's what I'll call it). But on Wednesday, January 2, 2018, as I'm driving through Wallkill I notice at least a quarter mile of geese lined up on the Wallkill River. It was the strangest thing I have ever seen. When you're driving on 208 towards Wallkill, they were on the far side of the river just sitting there.
When I say hundreds, I mean hundreds. I'm going to estimate there were at least 600 geese sitting on the river. Not moving, all just lined up following the far coastline of the Wallkill River.
Do you know why they were all sitting there? It was kind of terrifying. Like the movie "The Birds" but in real life (and thankfully they weren't attacking me). If you don't know why they all gathered, did you at least see it? Comment below or on our Facebook to let me know!
